So we started a new series of sermons at Ethos tonight focusing on 'story' and my pastor asked if I could contribute in some way. I'v painted during church before, and though enjoyable, I really wanted to try something new. So we plugged my computer into our projector and I painted very quick roughs while pastor Dave preached the good word. It was a ton of fun, and something I hope to do again.I had about two to three minutes to paint each of the five panels above. I have also decided that for this weeks entries I will paint a finished illustration for each every day.
I'll post a link to our sermon if you're interested in the explanation behind each panel.
Thanks as always for stopping in. I wish you a wonderful week!
Cheers!

100 !!!
Was going to do another regular post today, but thought to myself..."100 posts in a row!?" That's a personal accomplishment to be proud of. So I will instead leave you with this over the top, cheese ball, 'look at me dad!', emo artist quick sketch.I mean this really does sum me right on up. Stoic, tired, yet persevering. Right?
Either that, or I got smashed by an out of control font while pretending (yet again) that my pencil is a light saber.
You choose.
Cheers! Thanks for stopping by, and here's to the next 100!

091 April Fools
So people often ask me, "Erik how do you do it? Do you always strike gold when you sit down to create?" To which I to reply (after a jolly chuckle of coarse), "Don't I wish. You see, it is more often than not after many excruciating hours of blood, sweat, and beers, that I can eventually produce these gems."
In fact, behind every one of these so called 'gems' I speak of, lay multiple failed attempts. (I know right !?!)
Often these failures never see the light of day. Today however, is a little different. Out of the kindness of my humble heart I thought I might share a few of my early attempts at self portraits from yesterday that didn't quite make the cut.
Now bare with me, I admit these are a bit off mark.
Hind-sight is so 20/20!
The first was attempted at the end of a long weekend.
I was really trying to capture my inner beauty here with this one. I must confess, I think I was in a weird place at the time.Cheers!
