Superman sketch cards

Here's a look at a few of the Superman sketch cards I recently had the pleasure of doing for Cryptozoic Entertainment. I actually did 100 in total on this batch. What's shared below is a little over half of my contribution.

The above set are most of my 'Superman' cards with a couple 'Super' powerhouses in that bottom row. It's fun and interesting how many looks the big blue boy-scout from Krypton has taken on over the years.

Below are the 'badies'. I love drawing/designing villains. So much fun.

 Lastly, I had the pleasure of working with my buddy Jeff Victor (clicky here for more of his awesomeness) on a few jam cards. These are my two favorite, we did 6 total together. For these two in particular, Jeff sketched out Superman and passed the card along to me. I had free reign on choosing whom else was depicted on the card and putting ink and color to it for final treatment. Likewise I sketched out half of a few cards and vice versa. I have a huge soft spot for Krypto the Super dog, so it's no surprise he ended up on one. 

Overall I'm really pleased with the final results.

Tuesday nights + Drawing = Tumblin

Realizing it's been awhile since I posted I thought I might take a moment to share my Tumblr address!!

 As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'v been drawing on Tuesday nights, and while I don't always have the time to clean up all those sketches for the sake of sharing, I do tend to take quick pics with my phone and send them all to my Tumblr.

Batman Sketch Cards!!!

   So I'm finally allowed to share my second project with Cryptozoic, sketch cards for the upcoming Batman The Legend Trading Card sets. I ended up doing 70 total and you can check em all out below. 

  I must admit this was a dream gig. It really doesn't get any cooler then getting paid to draw Batman :)

Oh the people we see...

So despite the delay in my posting here, it's safe to say I'v still been busy been drawing. A lot. I'm rather happy with the work below, it's all a result of me really trying to explore character design through drawing every day folks out and about. 

About a month or two ago I decided I needed to establish some set time once a week and be drawing out in public. Though this idea is of coarse nothing ground breaking or new as so many amazing artists do this better then me and ALL of the time, I felt compelled to make a sort of 'event' out of it and extend an open invite to my many wonderful co-workers as well as any individual who artists interested in good company and an excuse to get out and draw on Tuesday nights.

So, if you ever think you might find yourself in the vicinity of Pasadena on a Tuesday night and have a hankering to sketch some people in good company, please by all means drop me a line. All are welcome!

  The third piece I'll be contributing to The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe REDUXE Edition !

Took a different approach with this guy. Thought I'd play around in photoshop(PS) a bit more. I feel like I still have soooooo much to learn about painting digitally, but all in all not the worst thing I'v done in PS.

Well, one more set of characters yet to come for this series, and that will wrap up my involvement this time around.

Who exactly is Ghaur? In all honesty, I have no clue. My Marvel comics geek knowledge is pretty up there, but this dude was a new one for me. Regardless I had a lot of fun retooling him for OHOTMU challenge. Hope you enjoy!

Batman: The Legend Sketch Cards

Cryptozoic Entertainment just announced their next series of trading cards Batman:The Legend, to which I contributed and am now allowed to share my involvement in. Their post is here with info and a few samples of the sketch cards. I was fortunate enough to have one of my cards included in their post allowing me to share that image at this time. I did 70 total and will share them all when I'm given the ok a little closer to the release date (probably next month). I must say, this was such a fun project to work on! A huge thanks to the crew over at Cryptozoic for the work.

Just wanted to share this before too much time has passed. For a hot minute I was considering a rather popular 30 day monster girl challenge thats been going around the web right now, however between a few projects that demand my attention and the desire to start work on some new portfolio peices, this challenge will have to wait. 

Day one was "harpy" btw. If you google '30 day monster girl challenge', pretty sure the top few hits will show you the rest of the list, in case there are any interested parties out there.

Also! Just finished up a new Illustration for a "monstober" show this October themed to (surprise surprise!) monsters. More on that shortly.

Serpent Society - OHOTMU

So amongst my busy schedule, I've had the privilege  of contributing to The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe REDUXE Edition. [It's a really cool project you can check out here]  In case it's not obvious, my art's on the right, Original illustration on the left by Paul Neary and Joe Rubinstein. Artist's were invited to contribute a rehash of sorts to the older artwork.

I've got 3 more lined up to contribute as well, so more to come!

From zero to plaid!!!

If you get that reference, then we are kindred spirits. Life's crazy busy right now (hence the zero to plaid(AKA really fast)), and I'm bummed b/c as much as I'm drawing and working on stuff, I can't share any of it! (for now at least) This first pic below is a tease that really shows off nothing more than some supplies and a stack of blurred out cards...

... if you recall the Walking Dead Cards I did just a short while ago, well the same company was generous enough to invite me back to participate on more card sets. The set I'm currently trying to knock out is a real treat. One of those career highlights really. These ones are due in Sept. so hopefully come early Oct. I'll be able to share them. In addition I will be contributing to a third set due later in the winter (also a way cool assignment)
